There are four prominent churches and a small chapel in the district:

Innerleithen Church (formerly the Parish Church ) and Traquair Kirk at Traquair, both belong to the Church of Scotland Parish of Innerleithen,Traquair and Walkerburn.

Further up Leithen Road is the Episcopal church of St Andrews (built as a gift by the Ballantyne family of Textiles fame, whilst the Roman Catholic community worship at St James's at the cross between Traquair Road and Peebles Road and Traquair House has an intimate family Chapel where mass is held at 19:00 on the last Thursday of the summer and is a popular venue for weddings.

Innerleithen Church has a long and distinguished history and plays a central role in the community's festivals, events and organisations.
