St. Ronan's Band AGM

The annual general meeting of St. Ronan’s Silver Band will be held on Saturday 24 August in the Vale Club, Innerleithen at 6.30pm.  This will be followed, at 7.00pm, by the annual general meeting of St. Ronan’s Tattoo Committee.  All welcome.

South Pacific Open Evening

Musical Fun Day

Innerleithen & District Amateur Operatic Society will hold a Musical Fun Day on Saturday 14 September in and around the Memorial Hall.  The event starts at 10.00am with a coffee morning until 12 noon, including bacon rolls on sale.  A Craft Fair will run from 10.00am-3.00pm.  There will be live music from 2.00-3.30pm from St. Ronan's Future Band and Tweed Valley Male Voices.  From 1.00-5.00pm there will be a bouncy castle, bowls game, face painting, mini assault course, sumo suits, etc.  Ice cream, hot snacks and teas/coffees will also be available.  Entry between 10.00am and 5.00pm will be by silver collection.  From 7.00-10.00pm there will be a musical club night featuring the opera youth section, Tweeddale Folk Group rounding off with fantastic local band, Spoonthrift.  Entry to the evening event costs £4.00 with tickets available from Tweeddale Thrift Shop, High Street, Innerleithen.  A licensed bar will also be available until 11.00pm.  Please ring 01896 830577 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Fun Run

St. Ronan’s Border Games Committee is organising a Fun Run to be held on Sunday 15 September.  The run will leave from Traquair Road, Innerleithen at 10am, going to Walkerburn and back along the Tweedside.  Sponsor forms are available now from the Thrift Shop, St. Ronan’s School or tel. 01896 870316.  This is open to all ages with prizes for winners and certificates for all entrants.  Children in P.4 and younger must be accompanied by an adult on the run.  All sponsorship raised will go towards the organisation of Games Week 2014.

Race Entries
Local entries for the American Cup (800 metres handicap - Youth 9 year to Under 18 on Games Day) and the New Zealand trophy (200 metres handicap) must be handed into the Sports Secretary Sarah Lindsay (tel. 01869 833590) no later than Saturday 13 July. No entries for these events will be accepted on the field on Games Saturday (20 July).  Both races are for youths 9 years to under 18 years on Games Day and are confined to Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair.

Raffle Tickets & Games Week Programmes
Games raffle tickets are now available from various shops around the town or from any committee member. The raffle will be drawn at the Standard Ball on Saturday 13 July.  Prizes include vouchers for McDonald Cardrona, Coltman’s, Stobo Castle, Saffron, Luxury Lawns, Go Ape, Tiger Lilly, Number Six Hair Design as well as many other prizes.  Tickets will also be on sale alongside  the Official Games Week programme

Games Bunting & Ties
Anyone who would like to purchase Games Week bunting should contact the Treasurer Norman Scott on (01896) 830621.  Strings of flags cost £15 each, are of good quality and can be re-used year after year.  Games ties are also available at £5 each.

Volunteers are required to carry blankets for the collections during the Fancy Dress Parade on Thursday July 18 and the Flower Parade on Saturday July 20. Those willing to help are asked to contact Games committee Treasurer Norman Scott on (01896) 830621.

Senior Citizens' Social Evening
The Senior Citizens Evening will be held in the Memorial Hall on Thursday July 11.  Tickets are now available at the Post Office free of charge.  Entertainment will be provided by St. Ronan’s Future Band, a light supper will be served followed by dancing.  A bar will be provided.  Those who have already collected tickets are asked to please note the correct date.

Decorated Houses, Shops & Businesses
It is hoped that as many people as possible will decorate their homes to help brighten the town for its most important week of the year.  Anyone who wishes to have their house judged for the Fancy Dress Parade must give their name to the Games secretary Stewart Wilson (phone 870316) no later than 8pm on Wednesday July 17.  Shops and businesses will also be judged with prizes on offer and the Games Committee would encourage all local businesses to get involved.
